Alice Andree Bischoff (née Fauvet) is a French supercentenarian.
BIOGRAPHY
Alice Bischoff was born in the commune of La Chapelle-Gauthier in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France, on 9 September 1916, the third of six children. Her parents were Georges Eugene Fauvet (born 1896) and Andree Martin (born 1898). Her youth was spent in the countryside, where she devoted herself to her family, farm work, and household chores. In her 20s, she moved to Paris, where she found work at a delicatessen in Saint-Denis and met her future husband.
On 11 November 1940, at the age of 24, she married Rene Leon Bischoff (1917–2008) in Saint-Denis. In 1948, due to her husband’s health problems, the couple moved to the Hautes-Alpes region, settling in Embrun. She remained in Embrun for many years, where she and her husband ran a butcher shop and delicatessen for more than 40 years. The couple had a daughter, Josette.
She lived at home until the age of 107 with the support of local care services, after which she moved into a nursing home. At 110, her hearing was reported to be somewhat impaired, but she remained able to understand others and had a good memory. As of her 110th birthday, her daughter Josette was 82, and she also had two grandchildren and now three great-granddaughters.
