Irène Laroche is a French supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Laroche was born in the village of Esparron-la-Bâtie (now part of Bayons) in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, France, on 23 March 1914.

In 1948, she got married in Avignon. She had a son, who later moved to Costa Rica. She worked as a telephone operator until she retired at the age of 60. Following the passing of her husband in 1981, she kept living at her home in Les Angles, up until she moved into a nursing home in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon in 2017.

Her 108th birthday celebration was attended by the mayor of Villeneuve, who was accompanied by Monique Bout and Blandine Arnaud. Some municipal councilors also came to wish her a happy 108th birthday.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by members of Les Grands Centenaires Français, and validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation on 10 April 2024.
