BIOGRAPHY

Alfonso Murguía Murillo was born in Tepatlaxco, Veracruz, Mexico on 3 August 1911. At some point, he married Juana González Pérez and had 10 children; Pastor, Victórica, María Antonieta, Santos, José Juan, Ramiro, Gabriela, Fabián, Juan Diego and Joaquín. They were married for over 70 years until Juana’s passing in 2003.

Murguía Murillo worked as a peasant and later as a musician for nearly 80 years, composing more than 60 songs. At the age of 106, his sister Susana was 95.

Murguía Murillo passed away in Córdoba, Veracruz, Mexico, on 3 October 2020, at the age of 109 years, 61 days.
