BIOGRAPHY
Al Taubman was born on 2 June 1916 in Brooklyn, New York City, USA. His parents, Joseph and Bertha, were Jewish immigrants from what was then the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His father was most likely born in present-day Ruscova, Maramures, Romania, while his mother and siblings were born in Rahó (now Rakhiv), Ukraine. He had three older brothers.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. In 1945, he married Esther Israel, and the couple had a son, Jeffrey. He was widowed in 2000.
