Augusta Giontella was born in Todi, Umbria, Italy, on 7 August 1912.
On her 109th birthday, she received a visit from Federico Gori, the mayor of Montecchio, who presented her with a commemorative plaque and a bouquet of flowers.
Augusta Giontella died on 23 October 2022 in Melezzole, Umbria, Italy, at the age of 110 years, 77 days.
On 11 December 2020, following the passing of 110-year-old Maria Saldi, she became the oldest living person in the region of Umbria. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Armandina Cerritoni.
Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 19 September 2022.
On 21 October 2022, at the age of 110 years, 75 days, she surpassed Maria Saldi’s final age, becoming the oldest woman to have ever lived in Umbria. However, she did not surpass the overall longevity record held by Dante Parlani.
