Philomen Nicholas, Saint Lucia’s Oldest Resident, Turns 112

by Stefan Maglov | Oct 23, 2026 | Birthday Reports, News

Philomen Nicholas, the oldest living person in Saint Lucia, is celebrating her claimed 112th birthday today in Laborne, Monchy. Her birthday was first reported on Facebook by Kenson Casimir, a Saint Lucian politician and former broadcaster.

Philomen Nicholas, also known as Eldica, was born in the small village of Dauphin (Laborne, Monchy), on 23 October 1914. Having spent the majority of her life in Grande-Rivière, Gros-Islet, she outlived her two children. Her great-granddaughter, Christa St. Ange, noted that although her great-grandmother never received a formal education, she cherished the few days she spent attending adult literacy classes at night. She worked primarily in agriculture throughout her life, helping support her family.

Faith has always played a central role in her life. At the age of 110, she had nine grandchildren, more than 25 great-grandchildren, and a growing number of great-great-grandchildren.

Her age remains unvalidated by LongeviQuest. To date, no supercentenarian born and/or deceased in Saint Lucia has been fully documented and validated.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Philomen Nicholas on her 112th birthday.
