Solange Demorgny, the second-oldest resident of France, passed away in Champagne-Mouton, on 12 September, at the age of 113 years, 186 days.
Demorgny was born in the commune of Turgon in the Charente department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 10 March 1913. Her parents were Eugène Marcel Pressac (1884–1924) and Marie Segeat (born 1888). She walked 3 kilometers to school and back every day in wooden shoes. She was awarded her certificat d’études primaires aged 12 and went on to work as a chambermaid in Charente and later Paris.
On 28 April 1934, she married Alexis Florestant Demorgny (1914–1982) in Paris, and the couple had five children, all of whom she outlived between 2014 and 2017.
At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest living person in France, after Madeleine Dellamonica, 114.
