BIOGRAPHY
Anna van Niekerk was born in Bothaville, Free State, South Africa, on 31 March 1909. At some point, she got married and went on to have six children, including Louise Basson.
At the age of 108, she had four living children, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. At that time, despite having limited vision and hearing, her mind remained remarkably sharp, and she was in excellent health. Her daughter described her as a determined individual with great willpower, who lived a healthy lifestyle, stayed active, and worked diligently.
Anna van Niekerk passed away in Sannieshof, North West Province, South Africa, on 22 July 2019, at the age of 110 years, 113 days.
