Joanna Lipińska was born in Poland (then Russian Empire) on 18 August 1910.
In 2010, she recounted her memories of World War II, which were documented by Paweł Bugaj in one of the Historical Notebooks of the Society of Friends of the Wroniec Land (Polish: “Towarzystwo Miłośników Ziemi Wronieckiej”). She spoke about the beginning of the war in Wronki and recalled the actions carried out by the Russians in the area.
On her 110th birthday, local residents gathered under the window of her house, sang songs, and gave her flowers and gifts. At that time, she would walk around the square next to her house on her better days and visit the garden she had tended to herself until a few years earlier. However, her hearing and vision had significantly deteriorated. Despite these challenges, politics remained her hobby, and she believed it was her duty as a Pole to stay informed about her country’s affairs. She avidly read the national press, watched television, and maintained her own opinions on current events.
Lipińska passed away in Wronki, Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland on Sunday, 6 March 2022, at the age of 111 years, 200 days.
Her age has not been validated by LongeviQuest.
