Concepción Bravo Chávez was a Mexican supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Concepción Bravo Chávez was born in a corner of Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, on 1 April 1913, as the eighth of 10 children born to a single mother. Life wasn’t always kind to her from the beginning. At the early age of 4, she lost her parents during the 1918 pandemic, leaving her in a world full of uncertainties. However, she was always a determined girl who never lost hope or love for life, despite the adversities she faced. She was taken in by her uncle and aunt, Mateo and Vicenta, who provided her with a loving home. Together with her cousins, some also orphans, she grew up with laughter and complicity.

At the age of 21, she married Juan López Orta. Together, they had seven daughters, who filled their home with laughter and dreams: María Emma, Estela, María Elena, María de Lourdes, María Martha, María Guadalupe, and the youngest, María del Rocío. The family tree branched out to 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

When asked about the secret to her longevity, she said: “natural diet”. Every morning, as a sacred ritual, she would eat an apple on an empty stomach. “It is the elixir of youth,” she would often say. Her family described her as having a strong character, but her heart as a “treasure of pure gold”. She was consistently altruistic, always helping those in greatest need without seeking anything in return. Even in her centenarian years, she continued to hand-wash her clothes, cook, and maintain a decent level of physical activity.

Bravo Chávez passed away on 26 June 2025 in Mexico City, Mexico, at the age of 112.
