BIOGRAPHY

Farve was born as Beatrice Scarlett in Camden County, Georgia, on 30 April 1895. At the age of 21, she moved into a house in Brunswick, Georgia, where she lived for the rest of her life.

In 1921, Farve married her husband, World War I veteran Dennis John “Destaris” Farve; the couple had five children: Lottie, Bettie, Rose, Joan, and Dennis Jr., all of whom outlived their mother. She was widowed in 1974.

In her later years, Farve sold beauty products until she was 100 years old. She seldom went to the doctor nor took any medication. Her children forced her to give up driving at the age of 106.

At the age of 113, Farve was cared for by her daughter Joan, who described her as soft, smiling, and known to stand her ground. She was four feet and seven inches tall, and weighed 81 pounds, but was a very strong-willed person.

Farve died in her sleep in her Brunswick home on 19 January 2009 at the age of 113 years, 264 days.
