LongeviQuest recently had the opportunity to learn of Kiyoko Kondō, who has become the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, with the cooperation of Tamano City and the nursing home where she resides.
At the age of 112, Kondō continues to live a regular and active daily life. She usually wakes around 5 a.m. and spends the daytime in the living room with other residents without taking naps until after dinner. In the morning, she enjoys coffee time and performs standing exercises as part of her rehabilitation. In the afternoon, after snack time, she does upper body exercises every day.
She is able to move around by operating her wheelchair herself and can stand when bathing or using the toilet. According to the nursing home staff, she enjoys spending time with other residents and rarely stays alone in her room. She also maintains a good appetite, preferring meat to fish and enjoying rice dishes such as chirashi sushi and takikomi gohan, as well as noodles. For snacks, she prefers manjū and Western style pastries rather than cold desserts such as jelly.

Following the passing of Yukiko Honda (本田幸子), aged 112, of Okayama City on 19 February 2026, Kondō became the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture.
Kondō was born in Hachihama Town, Okayama Prefecture, Japan, now part of Tamano City, on 1 September 1913. At the age of 19, she married, and she and her husband both worked at Mitsui Shipbuilding, now Mitsui E&S Co., Ltd., a Japanese engineering and shipbuilding company. In her younger years, she practiced traditional Japanese dance.
At the age of 86, she moved into a care home. When she was 98, she transferred to a special nursing home operated by the same organization, where she has lived ever since.
She reportedly recovers quickly even when she catches a cold or influenza and has no history of chronic illness or major disease. When she celebrated her 112th birthday on 1 September 2025, she reportedly said, “I hope to live for another two or three years” (Japanese: 「あと2~3年よろしくお願いします」).
Kondō currently resides in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
LongeviQuest wishes her continued good health and happiness.
