Juliana Jarošová, the oldest living person in Slovakia, passed away in Nitra on 21 February, at the age of 107 years, 240 days.
Jarošová was born in the Czech Republic, on 26 June 1918, and grew up as the eldest of eight children. At the age of 18, she married her neighbor, Ondrej. Her husband passed away in 1985 at the age of 73.
While living in the Czech mountains, they ran a small farm with horses, cows, a pig, and poultry, which demanded constant care. In 1959, they moved to Slovakia, where Juliana worked on state-owned properties, tending to the fields, forests, and animals.
Following the passing of Ilona Szekér (23 December 1917 – 12 September 2023), she became the oldest known living person in Slovakia.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Juliana Jarošová during this difficult time
