Maria Giovanna Cerami, the oldest living person in Sicily, Italy, passed away today in Petralia Sottana, at the age of 111 years, 34 days, according to Supercentenari d’Italia.

Maria Giovanna Cerami was born in Petralia Sottana, Palermo, Sicily, Italy, on 20 November 1914 .

Even in her centenarian years, she remained active and had the strength to shovel snow from the street. Additionally, she continued to attend church mass independently.

On 19 December 2025, following the passing of Rosaria Martorana, she became the oldest living person in Sicily.
