Rosaria Martorana, the oldest living person in Sicily, Italy, celebrated her 111th birthday in Ragusa on 27 October, according to Giornale Ibleo.

Rosaria Martorana was born in Ragusa, on 27 October 1914. She married and had four children, all of whom she outlived. She remained in regular contact with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, some of whom she connected with via video calls.

Attending her birthday celebration to convey the city’s warmest wishes and affection were the Bishop of Ragusa, Monsignor Giuseppe La Placa, and Mayor Peppe Cassì, together with other members of the city council. Also in attendance was Gianna Miceli, president of the women’s council. Bishop La Placa, who had visited her previously, offered his blessing and commended her for her steadfast faith and serene spirit.
