Jennie Libertini, a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, USA, passed away on 7 August, at the age of 110 years, 183 days.

Libertini was born in Baltimore on 5 February 1915. She was a first-generation American, born to Italian immigrants Josephine and Frank Barbarino. Her parents were born in Sicily and immigrated to the United States, where the family lived in modest circumstances. Raised in the Catholic faith, she attended public school until the seventh grade. She had two brothers and one sister. When she was a young girl, her father was tragically murdered outside their home.

In her late teens, her mother, Josephine, arranged for her to marry an older man from the neighborhood. According to Libertini, he was lazy, and after just one year of marriage, she divorced him. They had one son, Michael. She never remarried. Her son Michael was her caregiver until his passing at the age of 83. He never married, and she had no grandchildren.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Irene Burrus during this difficult time.
