Onorina Apprato de Tagliaferro, a resident of Río Tercero, Córdoba Province, Argentina, is celebrating her 112th birthday today, according to La Voz del Interior and NEXO Noticias Río Tercero.

Onorina Apprato was born in the comune of Castellero in the Province of Asti, Piedmont, Italy, on 7 July 1913.

In 1933, at the age of 20, she moved to the city of Río Tercero, Argentina, along with her husband, José Tagliaferro. The couple had two children: Humberto (deceased) and Elsa. She was a housewife. She commented that she missed her homeland after moving away. Later, she returned there about four times.

Until she was 102 years old, she would go alone to the supermarket about 100 meters from her house. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she said it’s to stay active, always engaging in activities and not sitting idle “with your arms crossed.”

At the moment, she is the nation’s third-oldest known resident, after Angélica Tiscornia and Rosa Micaela Puertas.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Onorina Apprato on her 112th birthday.
