Francesca Fioriglio, a resident of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy, passed away on 16 July, at the age of 113 years, 186 days, according to Supercentenari d’Italia.

Fioriglio was born in Sciacca, Sicily, on 11 January 1912. At the age of 24, she married Vincenzo Restivo, a major marshal in the army. After marrying, in November 1936, she moved to Agrigento, her husband’s hometown. The couple had seven children, but three died as infants. Her family also included another centenarian—her sister, Angelina, who lived in Sciacca and passed away a few months after turning 100.

When asked about the secret to her longevity, she credited a healthy and serene lifestyle, free from excess.

Following the passing of 111-year-old Giuseppa Comandè on 8 July 2022, she became the Oldest Living Person in Sicily. At the time of her passing, she was the 2nd-oldest living person in Italy, only after Lucia Laura Sangenito.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Francesca Fioriglio during this difficult time.
