It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Rosa Conti, a resident of Guapiaçu, São Paulo, Brazil, on 22 July, at the age of 110 years, 19 days. Dona Maria Rosa passed away due to complications caused by a fall she suffered two weeks ago, shortly after celebrating her 110th birthday.

Maria Rosa Conti was born at the Palmeiras site in Uchoa, São Paulo, Brazil, on 3 July 1915. Her parents were José Bento do Carmo and Virgínia Rosa da Conceição. She had six siblings that survived infancy: Benedicta, Sebastiana, Antonio, João, Anna, and Joaquim.

On 11 April 1940, she married Atilio Conti. The couple had four daughters: Evalina, Célia, Maridalva, and Vera. She was widowed in 2007. Maria attributed her longevity to a lifetime of hard work—on the farm, as a housewife, a nanny, and more. When asked about the secret to her long life, she said it was listening to music.

Her remarkable longevity was a testament to a life filled with dedication, wisdom, and deep affection for her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. In this time of sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
