Camilla “Millie” Mary Campau, a resident of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, passed away on 18 June, at the age of 111 years, 256 days.

Camilla Campau was born on 5 October 1913, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Anna Schmidt. She was one of seven children and outlived all of her siblings. At 15, she left home to join the nuns at “The Convent” at St. Paul on the Lake.

Camilla later married Edwin J. Campau (1903–1983), and the couple settled in Grosse Pointe Farms, living next door to her mother-in-law. At the time, the Campau family owned the land that is now Chapoton Woods in St. Clair Shores. During the Great Depression, they allowed the land to revert to the state.
