Mitsuko Uesugi was a validated Japanese supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in Ibaraki Prefecture at the time of her death.

Mitsuko Uesugi was born on 20 August 1907 in Nobeoka Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.

She married at the age of 19 and was blessed with two sons and five daughters. The couple ran a car dealership together, but her husband suddenly passed away at the age of 49.

Originally fond of sewing, she attended an embroidery class at the city’s culture center only once and then continued learning on her own with help from staff at a handicraft store.
