The oldest (known) living man in Colombia, Alfonso María Rojas Perdomo, passed away in Santa María, Huila Department, on June 29, at the age of 111 years, 29 days.

Born in the town of Palermo, Huila, on 31 May 1913, he had four younger siblings, all of whom he outlived. He spent his childhood and youth alongside his parents and siblings until he reached the age of 20. After his brother’s passing, he married María Luz Dussán Mejía on 12 May 1951. The couple had eight children. His wife passed away in 1962. In 1985, at the age of 72, he moved to the municipal capital of Santa María, where he spent the rest of his life.

In October 2023, his age was validated, making him the first documented supercentenarian from Huila Department. In January 2024, he became the oldest (documented) living man in the country.

LongeviQuest sends our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Mr. Rojas Perdomo.
