She married Joseph Hudson on 8 July 1939 and the couple had two sons together.
The pair were married for 29 years until her husband passed away in 1968. In 1976, she got married for a second time to Dewitt Mullen, but the marriage lasted for only one year before he died in 1977.

Before her retirement in 1973, she was employed by the Institute for Defense Analysis in Arlington, Virginia. In 1989, she moved to California so she could be closer to her grandchildren, and became active in the community through charity work. Her hobbies included knitting, needlepoint, and making Christmas ornaments.
Mrs. Mullen passed away on 22 April 2024 in Laguna Woods, California, United States.
