Chiyo Nonaka, age 112, is now a validated Japanese supercentenarian.
Chiyo Nonaka was born in Japan on 27 September 1911. Reportedly, she loved exercise and ran marathons as a child. Her passion for sports continued into her old age, and she enjoyed watching track and field and sports in general.
Since 2020, as the city’s oldest resident, Nonaka (now 112) has received annual visits from the mayor in September. Notably, she still greets the mayor in the traditional seiza position, even at her supercentenarian age. In 2023, she enjoyed watching the high school baseball championship on TV.
Currently, she lives with her daughter and celebrated New Year 2024 at home with family.
