Zoraida Ormaeche Rojas was a Peruvian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS).

Biography

Ormaeche Rojas was born in Callao, Peru, on 23 February 1901. Her parents were Domingo Ormaeche and Inocenta Rojas. She had a twin brother, Pedro Carlos. She studied to become a telegraph operator, but was never able to pursue that career. On 11 December 1919, she married Benjamin Carlos Nugent. On 13 October 1969, she remarried Francisco Irala Ojeda. She had seven children in total.

At the time of her 110th birthday in 2011, she had 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. According to her daughter, the secret of her longevity might have been her healthy diet, and the fact that she never smoked or drank alcohol.

Ormaeche Rojas passed away in San Borja District, Lima, Peru on 2 November 2011 at the age of 110 years, 255 days.
