BIOGRAPHY

Valentina Martín Jiménez was born in Zapardiel de la Cañada, Castile and León, Spain, on 14 February 1908. In her youth, she dedicated herself to the family and work in the fields. Her passion for dance gave her the opportunity, as a young woman, to meet the man who she would later marry. They had at least one daughter, Clemencia.

Valentina Martín Jiménez passed away in Torres de la Alameda, Community of Madrid, Spain, on 13 April 2020. It has been reported that she died as a result of contracting the COVID-19 virus.

RECOGNITION

On 22 December 2019, following the death of 113-year-old Josefa Santos González, she became the oldest living person in Community of Madrid.

At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in Spain, after Maria Branyas Morera. She was also the last (known) surviving Spanish person born in 1908, and the first known supercentenarian victim of COVID-19.

Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov, and validated by the ESO on 23 August 2021.
