BIOGRAPHY

Tora Kosugi was born in Japan on 13 February 1907.

Tora Kosugi passed away in Kamo, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, on 11 December 2018, at the age of 111.

RECOGNITION

Between 2013 and 2017, Kosugi was anonymously reported as the oldest living person in Kamo City every September.

On 26 February 2018, following the death of 113-year-old Kiku Usami, she became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture, less than two weeks after her 111th birthday.

Upon her death, Chitetsu Watanabe (who was just under three weeks younger) succeeded her as Niigata Prefecture’s oldest living person.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 1 July 2023.
