Terue Ashida [芦田テルエ] was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group.

BIOGRAPHY

Terue Ashida was born in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture on September 20, 1899.

After being married, she ran a kimono store with her husband.
She lost her husband when she was around 60, and she lived with her only daughter until 2007.

She moved into a nursing home at the age of 107.
At the age of 108, she enjoyed watching sumo wrestling and period dramas, reading newspapers and magazines, and she was popular with the nursing home residents for her bright personality.

The secret to her longevity was “not choosing an unbalanced diet”

She was the oldest person in Hyogo prefecture and the fourth oldest person in Japan when she died on February 15, 2013 at the age of 113 years and 148 days.
