Shitsu Nakano was a verified Japanese supercentenarian. She was the fourth-oldest verified living person in the world and the oldest living person in Japan, following the death of the then-oldest living recognized person Yone Minagawa six days earlier.

BIOGRAPHY

Nakano had eight children, 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She died of natural causes in a home for the elderly in Ogōri, Fukuoka Prefecture.

RECOGNITION

After her death, fellow 113-year-old Tsuneyo Toyonaga became the oldest living person in Japan.
