BIOGRAPHY

Sadami Matsuoka was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, on 20 February 1914. When she was around 10 years old, she moved to Tokachi District in Hokkaido Prefecture, where she has been living ever since.

The day before her 100th birthday, a birthday party was held at the day service center she had been attending since she was 87 years old. On her 100th birthday, a celebration took place at her home, and she also received a memento from Makubetsu Town. At the age of 105, she moved into a nursing home, where she currently resides. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she credited it to “eating every meal that is served to me with gratitude and savoring its deliciousness.”

RECOGNITION

In September 2023, she was recognized as the oldest living person in the Tokachi area and the ninth-oldest person in Hokkaido.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yu Li, Marco Wikkerink, and Takehiro Shibuya, and validated by LongeviQuest on 14 March 2024.
