Margaret Hoyle was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina, USA on 29 January 1914.

At some point, she married Robert David Hoyle, with whom she had four children (all of whom she outlived).

Hoyle lived independently until she fell and broke her hip in 2020. Following the incident, she relocated to a nursing home in Chester, South Carolina. A few months later, she contracted COVID-19 but successfully recovered about two weeks before celebrating her 107th birthday in January 2021. As of her 110th birthday in January 2024, she had 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
