Biography

Boston was born as Lois Inez Wallin in Oklahoma on 10 May 1913 as the ninth of 12 children born to Benjamin and Mary Lou Wallin. She graduated from Goodwell High School and later Panhandle A&M College, which is now known as Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

Boston married her husband, Charlie, on Christmas Eve 1936 in Guymon, Oklahoma. They had three daughters: Gay, Charlene, and Victoria. She worked as a teacher in the towns of May, Felt, and Guymon, while also co-owning the Boston Furniture store in Guymon.

Boston was an avid golfer until she was 83 years old. She was widowed in 2006 after almost 70 years of marriage. At the time of her 107th birthday, she had five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge and getting her hair done and is a longtime member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church.

As a centenarian, she moved into a Guymon nursing home, where she currently lives at the age of 110.

In April 2023, there was a widespread social media campaign to celebrate Boston’s upcoming 110th birthday. For the occasion, Guymon mayor Kim Peterson proclaimed the week of 7-13 May 2023 as “Lois Boston Week.”

Boston received congratulations from Congressman Frank Lucas, State Senator Casey Murdock, State Representative Kenton Patzkowsky, and President Joe Biden.

Her age was validated by LongeviQuest on 18 May 2023.
