Kimi Kawasaki

Kimi Kawasaki (Japanese: 川崎喜美) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and one of the oldest living residents of Japan.

Biography

Kimi Kawasaki was born in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, on 24 March 1909. She lived with her family on Iwo Jima before her marriage.

At the age of 17, she married Keiji Kawasaki, a postal worker, on Chichijima Island. She gave birth to their first child at the age of 18, and her seventh and final child in 1947, at the age of 38. Her husband died in 1947, shortly after their youngest daughter was born. After that, she raised seven children by herself. She was good at Japanese dress-making, and she made Japanese clothes by herself.

She specializes in shimazushi, a local dish of the Ogasawara Islands where she is from, and she made sushi for her family until she was in her 80s. Until the age of 107, she was able to walk, after which she had been in home care.

Kimi Kawasaki died of natural causes at her home in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, on 10 December 2022, at the age of 113 years, 261 days.
