BIOGRAPHY

Hatsue Tachikawa was born in Japan on 10 December 1907.

At some point before turning 108, Tachikawa moved into a nursing home for the elderly. Her nephew Yoshiyuki, speculating on the reason for his aunt’s longevity, said, “I think it’s because she didn’t worry or dwell on small things. She had a strong mindset and was relied on and loved by those around her.” Tachikawa had a sweet tooth and was particularly fond of custard pudding.

Hatsue Tachikawa passed away in Naka Ward, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on 22 December 2019, at the age of 112 years, 12 days.
