Gladys Schlossman (née Moskowitz) was an American supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

Biography

Schlossman was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 7 February 1908, to parents Jacob Moskowitz and Lena Hershkowitz. She graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During her time at Northwestern, she was admitted to Delta Mu Delta, an international business honor society that acknowledges academic excellence. She was also included into Phi Chi Theta, a co-ed society in business and economics. Furthermore, she was a member of the American Society of Women Accountants.

On 14 November 1931, she married Arthur Schlossman. The couple had no children. In addition to being an avid reader, one of her passions was traveling. Her primary travel companions were her three sisters, although most often it was just her sister Laura. They explored Europe and the United States together, and she spent winters in Florida with her husband.

In the 1970s, she decided to learn how to play bridge. Starting with just one class at MCC, she eventually became one of the most accomplished bridge players in McHenry County. She was also a founding member of the Crystal Lake Seniors Bridge Club. Her husband passed away on 25 January 1995, after 63 years of marriage.

Schlossman passed away in Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA, on 3 March 2019, at the age of 111 years, 24 days.
