Gertrudis Guerrero García was a Mexican supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS).

BIOGRAPHY

Gertrudis Guerrero García was born in Chiautla de Tapia, Puebla, Mexico on 27 April 1911. Her parents were both teachers. She had one daughter, who died at 3 days old.

Guerrero García started working as a teacher in 1926, at the age of 15. She was forced to retire at the age of 100, even though she didn’t want to retire yet. Spe spent the last years of her service as a teacher in the Leona Vicario Elementary School.

At the age of 111, she had hearing problems.

Guerrero García passed in Chiautla de Tapia, Puebla, Mexico, on 31 March 2023.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov and Fabrizio Villatoro, and validated by the LAS on 4 May 2022.

At the time of death, she was the oldest (known) living person in the State of Puebla. At the time, she was also the second-oldest (validated) living person in Mexico, after Susana Gutiérrez Godoy.
