Gabrielle Georgette Ormand (née Thébault) was a French supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO). At the time of death, she was the third-oldest living person in France.

Biography

Ormand was born as Gabrielle Georgette Thébault on a farm in Saint-Aignan, Sarthe, Pays de la Loire, France, on 24 February 1909. She was one of 12 children born to parents Ernest Thébault and Zelie Boblet. She started working at the age of 12.

In 1933, at the age of 24, she moved to Paris to work as a saleswoman at Félix Potin, a department store on Boulevard Malesherbes. At work, she met Adolphe Ormand (1914–1973), whom she married on 17 April 1937. The couple moved to the commune of Épinay-sur-Seine. They had at least one daughter, Geneviève. In the 1950s, she worked for the town hall. In the 1980s, now a widow, she moved to the new apartment built on rue de Paris. In 2016, she moved back to Épinay-sur-Seine. On 1 December 2016, aged 107, she moved to the residence Charaintru, in Savigny-Sur-Orge.

Three of her siblings reached the age of 100 or more: Marthe Collet, who lived to 105, Roberte, who died a few days after her 101st birthday in 2017, and Marcelline Decorce, who died two months before her 101st birthday.

Gabrielle Ormand passed away in Savigny-sur-Orge, Essonne, Île-de-France, France, on 8 October 2021.
