BIOGRAPHY

Lefkowith was born on 15 May 1913. She had three daughters: Diane (married Hatoff), Elaine Lefkowith, and Janet (married Maharam).

At the age of 106, she resided at Premier Cadbury of Cherry Hill retirement community. On 15 May 2019, her 106th birthday, the retirement community organized a birthday celebration to honor her and five other centenarians residing there at that time. At that time, she remained independent, preparing her own meals and dressing herself, often opting for high heels.

Lefkowith passed away in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA, on 7 December 2023, at the age of 110 years, 206 days. She was survived by her four daughters, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

On 22 October 2023, following the death of 111-year-old Susan Keane, she became the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

Upon her passing, she was succeeded as New Jersey’s oldest living person by 110-year-old Launa Mitchell.
