Dora Caverson (née Fridberg) is a British-born Australian supercentenarian who is the oldest living person in the state of Western Australia. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

BIOGRAPHY

Caverson was born as Dora Fridberg in Gorbals, Glasgow, Scotland, on 10 September 1914. As a young woman, she worked for Cunard Line, a British cruise liner and shipping company, and also travelled across Canada and the United States.

Returning to England, Caverson married her husband, Joe Reuben Caverson, in 1954. Their son Stephen was born the following year. Caverson also brought up her stepdaughter, Ruth. The family later relocated to South Africa. Caverson was widowed after only 13 years of marriage, emigrating to Perth, Australia, in the 1980s to be near her son.

As of her 110th birthday, Caverson lives in a nursing home in Dianella, a suburb of Perth. She is, as of September 2024, one of five centenarians in the facility.

RECOGNITION

Following the death of 110-year-old Freda Screaigh on 8 March 2024, Caverson became Western Australia’s oldest known resident.

Her age was verified by Dr. Andrew Holmes, and validated by the ESO on 18 September 2024.
