Cecy Ryff Leivas

BIOGRAPHY

Cecy Martha Ryff Leivas was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 5 January 1906, to parents Jean Rodolphe Riff and Sofia Prates Vieira da Cunha. Her father was born in Switzerland. Her brother, Raul Riff, was a renowned journalist and close friend and advisor of the former president of Brazil, João Goulart.

At some point, she married José Maria Moreira Leivas. The couple had at least two children: Nora Leivas Lang and Antero Riff Leivas. At the age of 105, she said there’s no secret to her longevity.

Ryff Leivas passed away in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 30 April 2016, at the age of 110 years, 116 days.
