Anna Bechler was a German-born American supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

BIOGRAPHY

Anna Bechler was born in Kriegshaber, Bavaria, Germany, on 28 September 1907. Her parents were Franz and Johanna, and she had two sisters, Rosa and Johanna. She emigrated to New York in 1931, where she worked for ten years before relocating to Sarasota in 1945.

She once shared with her daughter, Johanna Churchro, that the secret to her longevity was eating raspberry jam every day of her life since childhood.

Anna Bechler passed away in Sarasota, Florida, USA, on 29 July 2020, at the age of 112 years, 305 days. She was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, as well as four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

Bechler’s age was validated by the ESO on 24 January 2020.
