Zoé Redoulès, known as Sister (Sœur) Dosithée, was a French nun and supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Zoé Redoulès was born in Valady, Aveyron, Occitania, France, on 14 July 1909. Caring for the sick was what always brought her happiness. Even as a young girl, she enjoyed bringing herbal tea to those who were bedridden. It became clear early on that her vocation was to become a nurse. During her adolescence, after two years of reflection, she made a life-changing decision to join the Franciscan community. At the age of 19, she became Sister Dosithée.

Her parents, deeply religious, guided her on the path of faith, and she was the only one among her siblings to follow this calling, while her four brothers and sisters married. In 1928, she joined the Franciscans in Rodez, fully embracing their principles. By then, she had already earned a higher education certificate. After two years of novitiate in Mur-de-Barrez, she entered the newly established Rodez nursing school in 1935. She practiced nursing until the age of 75, caring for soldiers returning home from the Second World War. After a life spent traveling through Franciscan territories, she first returned to settle in Mur-de-Barrez, and later, in 2000, she retired there.

At 110, she was reported to be in excellent health. Although she spent most of her time in a wheelchair, she continued to take a few steps each day in her room. However, she experienced progressive hearing loss in her left ear over time.

Zoé Redoulès passed away in Montpellier, on 13 February 2021, at the age of 111 years, 214 days.
