BIOGRAPHY

Yvette Guillot was born in Lachapelle, Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 12 July 1910. She lost her father at a young age and worked on the family farm in Virazeil to support her mother and sister. Guillot’s professional career began in agriculture, but in 1955, she became the canteen teacher at the local primary school, a position she held for 20 years. Known for her dedication, she continued to support her community even after her retirement in 1975, hosting the Rural Seniors’ Club and singing in its choir.

Guillot lived with the Monsacré host family in Gontaud, celebrating her 100th birthday there before moving to the Eulalie nursing home in 2014. Known for her love of sweets and champagne, she continued to participate in village life and was cherished by the community. Even at 102, she attended the inauguration of a new school canteen. At 104, she moved to the Eulalie nursing home, where she continued to engage with friends and the community.

Guillot celebrated her 107th until her 111th birthday at the nursing home with friends and local officials, highlighting her significant impact on the community. Despite moving around in a wheelchair in her later years, she maintained her sharp mind and vibrant spirit. She was always known for her cheerful disposition, love for sweets, and a small glass of champagne. Her life spanned 17 French presidencies, reflecting a century of resilience and community service.

 

Yvette Guillot passed away in Verteuil-d’Agenais, Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquit, France on 7 August 2021. at 111 years.

Guillot’s age was verified by Antoine Demarais, Cyril Depoudent, and Luc Le Lay, and was validated by the ESO on 4 April 2021.
