Vita Italia Diliberto was a Tunisian-born Italian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO). She was among the oldest living residents of the Lazio Region at the time of her passing.

BIOGRAPHY

Vita Italia Diliberto was born in Tunis, Tunisia (a French protectorate at the time), on 1 January 1914. At some point, she got married and had at least three children (two sons and a daughter). At some point, she moved to Italy.

At some point, she moved into a retirement home for the elderly. For her birthdays, including her 105th and 109th, the facility staff always ensured to organize parties with large cakes, music, and plenty of dancing. At each celebration, she was accompanied by notable personalities such as the city mayor, city councilor, facility owner, and most importantly, her family and friends. On one occasion, she commented that it seemed as though time had stopped since she moved to the retirement home.

Diliberto attributed her longevity to the love of her family and the people from the villa whom she considered her second family.

At the age of 110, she had 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Vita Italia Diliberto passed away in Aprilia, Lazio, Italy, on 26 April 2024, at the age of 110 years, 116 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Paolo Scarabaggio, and validated by the ESO on 9 July 2024, becoming the first validated Tunisian-born supercentenarian.

At the time of her passing, she was the third-oldest (known) living person in the Lazio Region, after Anna La Morgia and Maria Gabriella Lerchenthal.
