Toshiko Hayashibara was born in Japan on 30 March 1908.
At the age of 100, she attended every community center event and tried to keep her body and head strong and active by exercising for 30 minutes every day. Dancing became her hobby at the age of 75. At the age of 109, she was able to read newspapers, and continued her daily exercise routine.
Toshiko Hayashibara passed away in Daisen, Tottori Prefecture, Japan, on 21 June 2019, at the age of 111.
On her 100th birthday in 2008, the Mayor of Daisen visited her to celebrate her longevity and present her with mementos.
On 17 December 2018, following the death of 110-year-old Fumiko Tsubaki, she became the oldest living person in Tottori Prefecture.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yu Li and Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 22 July 2023.
