Teresa Solans Ferrer was born in Javierre, Aragon, Spain, on 25 February 1907. During the Spanish Civil War (1936–39), she was exiled to France, where she had two sisters. Upon her return to Spain, she was already fluent in French and could understand it perfectly, a skill she maintained throughout her life.
Teresa married and lived in Salinas for 12 years until her husband’s death. She then met Pedro, whom she married, and together they had two children, Alicia and Pedro. They settled in Tella.
In 1995, aged around 88, she moved into the nursing home in Aínsa, Huesca, Aragon. She couldn’t pinpoint a specific secret to longevity, beyond a “good” diet and a lot of tranquility. According to her daughter, she was never one to cause much anger or get overly upset, but she always stood out for doing things her own way. In her free time, she was an excellent dancer, and at nearly 108 years old, she still sang. At the age of 109, she had two granddaughters, Paula and Marta, and three great-grandchildren, including Sergio and Antonio.
Teresa Solans Ferrer passed away in Aínsa, on 30 July 2017, at the age of 110 years, 155 days.
At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living person in Aragon. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Jesús Mosteo Perez.
Her age has not been validated.
