BIOGRAPHY

Teresa de Jesús Amparán was born in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, on 15 October 1887. She was the eldest of 12 children. Her parents were Martin Amparan (died in 1928) and Gregoria Beltran (died in 1927).

In 1916, she emigrated to the United States with her family. She never married nor had children. Two of her sisters passed away at the age of 102, one at the age of 101, one of her brothers at the age of 102.

Amparán passed away in Laredo, Webb County, Texas, USA, on 2 August 1998, at the age of 110 years, 291 days.
