BIOGRAPHY

Tei Andō was born in Japan on 17 March 1914. After World War II, she moved with her husband and children to Tochigi Prefecture, where they started a woodworking shop. While working hard to support the family business, Andō also placed a strong emphasis on education, raising five children, all of whom went on to attend college.

After her husband’s passing in 1992, she lived alone. However, due to declining health, she moved into a nursing home at the age of 100. Even at 109, she continued to read the newspaper every morning and remained actively engaged in elections by voting.
