Susan Keane was an American supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of death, she was the oldest (known) living person in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and possibly the oldest living Irish woman in the world.

BIOGRAPHY

Susan Keane was born in Long Island City, New York, USA on 14 October 1912 to Irish immigrants, John and Mary Hughes. She had a twin sister, Mary Theresa “Terry” McCullough, and a younger sister, Cecilia.

In 1948, she married Peter Keane, and they moved to Allendale, New Jersey in 1960. The couple had two children: Susan Vogel and Peter K. Keane. Her husband died in 2008.

Susan Keane passed away in Allendale, New Jersey, USA, on 22 October 2023, at the age of 111 years, 8 days. She was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov, and validated by LongeviQuest on 12 February 2023.

Following her death, Freida Lefkowith became the oldest known living person in New Jersey.
