Sue Hirano [Japanese: 平野スヱ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Toyama Prefecture at the time of her passing.

BIOGRAPHY

Sue Hirano was born in Japan on March 20, 1903.

On her 100th birthday, the mayor visited the nursing home where she was residing and presented her with a commemorative gift. According to her eldest son, who was 70 years old at the time, she had been a strict parent and remained meticulous even in advanced age—at 100, she still remembered exactly where everything was kept in the house.

She passed away from natural causes at a hospital in Toyama City on January 25, 2015, at the age of 111 years and 311 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Toyama Prefecture. Following her death, Kie Taki of Imizu City succeeded her as the oldest living person in Toyama Prefecture.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 3 June 2014 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
